On second thought, this diary really needs a formal introduction.
I just needed a place to write down my Rift progression. Let's say in the near future, maybe 5 years from now, I'm still clicking away at my skill bar (yeah, I'm a clicker. Only God can judge me) this would be a great place to look back and aww at all my great gaming memories.
So just a quick recap of my playtime which at the moment is not known, but last I checked, I'm currently logged around 3 months and 20 days. In real life, that's close to 8 months.
Side Note: Farid Boutalbi introduced me to the game. Let me point out that he's also Algerian and makes fun of the way I say Cul de Sac.
So yeah... considering it was my first MMO, the first 40 levels of my game play were hilarious. I rolled a mage high elf on the EU shard Whitefall (PvP) and I didn't have the slightest clue about stats and gear. Around level 45, it was a race with my friends to get to endgame (50), and at 50, we had already built up a small social guild under the name Nocturnal, with a Pelle army from Sweden and some friends from home.
Once we grew tired of dungeon content, we knew it was time to start raiding. The first scheduled raid night for Nocturnal (a 10man raid called Gilded Prophecy, which we later found out was pretty difficult), only 3 people showed up online, and that was the end of that ridiculously short-lived venture.
We quickly merged with a Greek guild, StormLords, to start raiding in GSB and GP - looking back at it now, our progression was just silly.... and our guild leaders thought so as well, so they quit the game to play WoW, while we all wondered what we were going to do next. Farid and I packed up our virtual bags and joined the server's largest PvP guild, Cyrus. Raiding progression was much better but the leader was hell bent on shoving PvP content down everyone's throat, and since we were never able to become regular members (due to our PvP rank), Farid and I left the guild once more. We joined a few more guilds, which were failures, until we decided to finally switch shards. I've got to tell you, it was the best decision ever made in my Rift life. After scouring the forums, we found out that Icewatch, a PvE shard, had a few pretty active raiding guilds, and we ended up, through a successful trial, joining Zero Tolerance.
When we first joined Zero Tolerance, the guild officers thought it would be a long while until we could start Hammerknell raiding, but after a successful one-shot of Murdantix, it was our sole focus to progress even further.
After two months with the guild I'm proud to say, we've got 5/10 bosses down, and hopefully, we can get to 7-8/10 next week (if Estrode really proves to be the loot pinata every claims she is)
Oh, and I'm also working on owning the special Christmas Vaijyu mount. It has antlers :3
